It is one of my most complicated and detailed music creation, it also received the award of merit for the 1st Song Writing Competition held by City University of Hong Kong in 2018. 1st runner-up for best performance of the live show was also received for my performance.

2D Rhythm Platformer

Beat Runner is a 2D Rhythm Platformer game written with Processing. Code, music, sprites and animations are original and they are all done by me.

Player has to jump, run and attack at the right time following the music to get strikes and compete for the highest possible score.

Taiko World

2D Rhythm Game

Taiko World is a 2D Rhythm Platformer game written with Processing. Code, UI are all done by me while additional drawings were done by my groupmate.

Player can pick a song each from a different singer of a different country. Like other rhythm games, player needs to play the drum kit they selected and match the beats with the music to get a higher score.

The Adventure of Ashy

2D Platformer

"The Adventure of Ashy" (Named "Flower Adventurer" at the time)is a 2D platformer written in HTML, Javascript and the Phaser Game Framework, Tiled & Texturepacker were also used for the sprites and map creation. Adobe Flash was used for making the animations. Code, music, and some of the sprites and animations are done by me.

The story of this game is that an Alien named Ashy crashed landed on an unknow planet and lost her UFO. It's about the journey where she works her way out this planet while collecting enough flowers to re-activate her lost spaceship. Player would encounter enemies along the way and they can use many of Ashy's abilities to fight them off such as dash, punch, kick etc.

Piano Pro

Composing Software

Piano Pro is a small composing software that works like a simple version of DAW.The code was written in Processing and the audio sample were sampled from an existing virtual instrument piano.

Users can use varies modes to write and compose music on the built-in MIDI piano roll. The tempo and number of bars can also be customised by the user. Complex arrangments can also be made with this little software.

Japanese Memoriser

Educational Software

Japanese Memoriser is a small piece of educational tool written in Processing. Graphics and code are done by me while the audio files were taken from a Japanese pronouciations tutorial website.

This piece of educational tool provide quizes and audio aid to help the user to better memorise the hiragana and katakana characters in the Japanese language including the special characters. To help Japanese beginner learners to get on with the language more quickly

The Snake

Pixelated Gameboard

The snake pixelated gameboard is a recreation of the game "Snake" on an mini LED grid. Coding was done in Arduino and the wiring and circuitry was done with and Arduino UNO board.

This gameboard allows the player to control the snake with a typical TV remote by pressing the directional buttons and the LED would respond accordingly, a scoring system was also implemented as well as a speed control option, sound effects were also added for the gameplay.

MiniKeys

Musical Instrument & Software

MiniKeys is a hybrid musical instrument created with Arduino. The code was done in Processing as well as Arduino while the physical model was done with Adobe Illustrator by using a laser cutter to print out the necessary acrylic plastic pieces and gluing them together. The look of the model was done in Adobe Photoshop and it was printed out and sticked onto the model itself.

Players of this instrument can select one of the three instruments including piano, acoustic guitar and a drum kit. Plugging this insturment into a computer running the software written in Processing, players can play and record the music as well as doing little tweaks to the music that they recorded. The length of the song is not limited so they can play and record as long as they desired.

Music Glove

Musical Instrument & Software

Music Glove is a wearable that was made with Arduino and coded with Processing.

User can put on this glove and tap on any flat surface to start playing music. Although it only allow inputs for 5 fingers, users can selected which chords to play from over 100 chords predetermined in the software. The arrangement possibilities are virtually endless. The software also provides a easy-to-use interface, just a single drag and drop can allow the user to pick any chords they want and start making music.
